People are at the heart of everything we do and, as a successful business, we’re proud to play a positive role in the communities we operate in through charitable giving, sponsorship and volunteering.
Every year we ask our people to nominate a charity they believe will benefit from 1ST CENTRAL’s support. With so many great causes to choose from, it’s never an easy decision. Our Haywards Heath employees voted for The Early Birth Association. Set up 30 years ago, the charity helps new parents whose babies or children need treatment in special care units, raising funds to buy specialist medical equipment, clothing, nursery and other comfort items.
In Manchester The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital was chosen. The hospital is the largest single-site children’s hospital in the UK. Helping over 220,000 patient visits every year across specialities including oncology, haematology, bone marrow transplant, burns and orthopaedics, the children’s hospital raises funds to make sure that the lives of its young patients are made better.
Over in Guernsey, we’re supporting The Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation. The charity raises money to help the local neo-natal unit buy equipment such as incubators, training aids and furniture. It also supports the families of seriously ill older children.
Each year we set ourselves challenging fundraising targets and work hard to achieve them through a multitude of events, from bake-offs to bike rides and even skydives. 1ST CENTRAL matches every penny that gets donated to help us match our targets.
As well as our nominated charities, we’re pleased to support local initiatives, clubs and events, large and small. Earlier this year we announced our sponsorship of Junior Championship racing driver Sebastian Priaulx and we’re also the ground sponsor at Sussex County Cricket Club.
Alongside our work in the UK we are also active within the local communities in Guernsey and Gibraltar. Over in Guernsey, we’re proud to support a number of local initiatives including the Guernsey College Football Academy, This is Epic and Tour de Sez. As a company that is focused on nurturing young talent, last summer we opened our office doors to three students on a digital internship, and as a result, have invested in their future through the provision of a bursary for the duration of their university career.
Over in Gibraltar we’re proud to be exclusive sponsors of Gibraltar Rugby’s Development Officer.
We love getting our people involved, so we encourage everyone to take their one day’s paid leave for volunteering each year. We have an enormous range of worthwhile groups that we volunteer with, from the RSPCA and Manchester’s Beacon Drop-In Centre to St Peter & St James Hospice and the Little Chapple Foundation as well as a variety of community garden projects. There’s something for everyone.
