BI Lead Test Analyst

Are you looking for a new career with a fast-growing, dynamic company? Well look no further! We’re on the hunt for a Business Intelligence Lead Test Analyst to join our Business Intelligence team in Haywards Heath.

The BI Lead Test Analyst will give direction and leadership to the BI Test team and determine improvements to the role of testing within the organisation. The successful candidate will manage end-to-end testing for both data and reports, and identify and advise on appropriate training for all levels of testers.
Job responsibilities:
  • Take full responsibility for the management of technical BI testing activities within 1ST CENTRAL
  • Work closely with solutions architect, development team and business resources to define functional, system integration and performance test scenarios, scripts and execute testing
  • Manage all risks associated with BI testing and take preventative action when any risks become unacceptable
  • Monitor and control the BI testing effort and record and publish testing metrics required to manage the testing activities
  • Report on the effectiveness of BI testing and identify improvements to the testing process
  • Liaise with the Business Change team to manage the expectations for the testing stages of projects
  • Control acceptance of software from external suppliers
  • Define and create test cases from analysis of both functional and non-functional specifications
  • Produce test scripts, materials and regression test packs to test new and amended software or services
  • Specify requirements for environment, data, resources and tools
  • Interpret, execute and document complex test scripts using agreed methods and standards
  • Record and analyse actions and results, and maintain a defect register
  • Mentor and support other members of the Testing team
  • Supervise a small team including providing coaching and support, conducting performance reviews, developing a team culture, and encouraging the team to be creative and realise their full potential
  • Resolve any employee relations issues within the team (with the support of Test Manager/HR), and provide assistance in the recruitment process for the team Assist the BI Development Manager in process improvement
  • Ensure compliance with company and other relevant standards and regulations at all times, including Treating Customers Fairly (TCF)
Job-specific competencies:
  • Formal qualification in testing such as those offered by ISEB is mandatory
  • Minimum of five years' experience working within a data warehousing environment
  • Possess a strong understanding of EDW data model, ETL works flows and BI concepts
  • Strong track record of testing BI solutions
  • Must have a strong technical development background
  • Demonstrable experience in testing data store in warehouses and marts using SQL queries
  • Must have excellent knowledge of modern technical testing techniques and best practice
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL
  • Experience of data visualisation tools like QlikSense or Tableau is highly desirable
  • Solid experience of all stages of the software development lifecycle
  • Knowledge and experience in Agile delivery methods
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to adopt a logical approach to solving problems
  • People management and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate employees in a high pressured environment
  • Excellent knowledge of motor insurance products and the motor insurance industry

  • Knowledge of FCA requirements including Treating Customers Fairly (TCF)
