Charities of the year announcement
This month we revealed two new charities that we’ll be supporting: The Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and The Early Birth Association (EBA).
The Royal Manchester Children's Hospital provides specialist healthcare services for children and young adults who are suffering from a wide range of illnesses. The hospital specialises in oncology, haematology, bone marrow transplants, burns, genetics and orthopaedics; treating around 220,000 patients each year. And with 371 beds it's the largest single-site children's hospital in the UK.
The Early Birth Association is based at the other end of the country in Sussex and supports premature and sick babies who are cared for in the Trevor Mann Baby Unit at the Royal County Hospital in Brighton and The Princess Royal Hospital’s SCBU in Haywards Heath. The funds we raise will help provide essentials such as blankets and nappies, but also life-saving equipment - resuscitation units, hot cots, cooling equipment and incubators.
As part of the launch, we had visitors from both charities to talk about all the life changing support they provide and how the money we raise will help to save lives. We also held a raffle and a ‘Lucky Bucket’ which raised £157 for The Manchester Children's Hospital by our team in Salford Quays and £475 for EBA by our team based in Haywards Heath, both of which get match funded to £314 and £950.
What a great way to kick start our year of fundraising!
