We’ve exceeded our fundraising target
At the start of the year, we set ourselves an ambitious target of raising £40,000 for our chosen charity, St Peter & St James Hospice, which provides care facilities to terminally ill patients in Sussex.
As a result of the collaborative efforts of our employees – plus matched funding by the company – we’ve not only reached the target, but exceeded it, raising a total of £50,000!
Our fundraising activities throughout the past year have included the Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride, our charity abseil, Zumbathon, the Auction of Promises, plus cake sales, plant sales and many more events organised by hard working and enthusiastic employees. It’s a great achievement that we’re very proud of!
Andy James, our UK CEO, said: “We’re delighted to have exceeded our goal of £40,000. The hospice makes a real difference to the people that use its facilities and we hope the money raised will support them in continuing their great work in the years to come.”
In a ceremony that took place at St Peter & St James Hospice, the High Sheriff of East Sussex presented us with an award for our outstanding fundraising activities and, on behalf of the Queen, expressed how valuable our support is for the hospice.
Colin Burgess, Chief Executive of St Peter & St James Hospice, said: “I was delighted to welcome the High Sheriff, Juliet Smith, and 1ST CENTRAL to our hospice and to show them around the recently opened Beacon View Wellbeing Centre. 1ST CENTRAL has made a huge contribution to the fundraising of the hospice and it was great to give them our personal thanks for all the hard work.”
We’re pleased to have made a difference to St Peter & St James Hospice and we’re keen to ensure we continue to support a worthwhile cause in 2016 and beyond.
We also recently introduced Give as You Earn, which is a tax-effective scheme that encourages employees to give to a charity of their choice on a regular basis by making donations directly from their salary.
