We’ve chosen our Charity of the Year for 2016
Last year we decided to support St Peter & St James Hospice, which provides care facilities to terminally ill patients in Sussex.
Thanks to the fantastic efforts of our employees, we managed to exceed our fundraising target and raise a massive £50,000 for the charity.
At the start of this year we gave employees the opportunity to nominate a charity they’d like to see 1ST CENTRAL support in 2016, and we had a number of nominations for some very worthy causes.
We then gave employees a chance to vote for their Charity of the Year in a survey, which included all the nominated charities.
St Peter & St James Hospice received the most nominations, so we will continue to support them in 2016. Not only that, but 1ST CENTRAL will give a donation to all the other charities shortlisted.
Now that the Hospice’s Wellbeing Centre is complete, we’ve agreed to raise funds to support the work that it undertakes in the wider community. It has a team of seven Specialist Palliative Care Nurses, who are there to support 200 patients at home, seven days a week.
Our target is to raise £40,000 for St Peter & St James Hospice by the end of the year, so keep an eye out on how we get on!
