Find out what we got up to this July at 1st CENTRAL

It’s been another ‘record breaking’ month here at 1ST CENTRAL!

Charities of the year
Our team based in Manchester have chosen The Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and Haywards Heath employees selected locally based charity The Early Birth Association (EBA).

As part of our launch day celebrations, we raised £157 for The Manchester Children's Hospital and £475 for EBA, both of these will get match funded to £314 and £950. What a great way to kick start our year of fundraising!

For more information take a look at our official charity announcement.

Manchester’s summer party
For this year’s summer party our Manchester team  went on a boat party on the River Irwell. Tasty food and drink was enjoyed by all with the sounds of a DJ creating the perfect atmosphere.

And, judging by the quality of the moves on the dance floor, everyone was having a great time!

Once the party was over, our “Fun Central” reps went around the City of Manchester handing out spare food to the homeless.

World Record day
On 14th July we set our people the task of breaking records. There were three challenges; Fastest time to build a 20-brick LEGO tower, most smarties eaten in one minute with chopsticks (whilst blindfolded) and the most star jumps in one minute. We gave them the tools needed in order to become a world record holder (well, to some extent).

It turns out we have quite a few record breakers in the 1ST CENTRAL family, with three people smashing the smartie eating record. Andy James, our CEO, was the biggest surprise of the day; not only was he one of the three who beat the world record for eating the most smarties, but he also equalled the world record for the most star jumps in a minute at 77!

We’re now in the process of organising an adjudicator to come in and get these world record attempts legitimised.

Let’s see how many 1ST CENTRAL employees we can get to hold an official Guinness World Record!

Gauntlet Games
The Gauntlet Games is a hilarious obstacle course race in ? and on 21st July 10 brave Haywards Heath based souls took on the challenge. Competitors had to run 5k or 10k, taking on giant inflatables, slides, foam, swings, water obstacles and real gladiators.

We’re happy to report that not only did they beat the course, but between them, they raised £764.50 for the Early Birth Association.

Cricket
The 18th July saw the 1ST CENTRAL cricket team take on local club Staplefield in their annual match.
After Staplefield hit an impressive 167 runs, the 1ST CENTRAL team had their work cut out for them, and although they started strongly, they were unfortunately bowled over by the experience of the Staplefield club players, with all 11 players out for 74.

With a few matches left in the cricket season, we're positive that practice will lead to a perfect performance.

Netball
The 1ST CENTRAL Flyers were plagued this season by injuries (and holidays) resulting in players, more often than not, playing out of position.

That being said, the Flyers pulled off some top performances during the season, finishing on a high by beating the top ranked team, Redhill, in their last game 16-12 to finish the league in third place.

There's no rest for the girls though as they have just a two-week break before the league restarts on 14th August and they'll be looking to reclaim their title.
