On our bikes
The Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride 2015 takes place on Sunday 31st May, and 1ST CENTRAL is proud to be sponsoring the event for a fourth year running.
We also have a team of 30 intrepid cyclists, known as the 1ST CENTRAL Freewheelers, taking part. And we’ll be joined by some of our colleagues from Enterprise Car Hire. They’re all raising money for the St Peter & St James Hospice, our charity of the year.
We have set ourselves a target of raising £40,000 for the hospice this year, and the bike ride will help us get closer to our total. St Peter & St James will put our money towards the completion of a new Wellbeing Centre, which will allow the hospice to offer over 1,500 more visits each year, and provide a new space for medical consultations, counselling, arts and crafts projects or simply resting in privacy.
This year the Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride is aiming to raise awareness of dementia, and 1ST CENTRAL Chief Executive Andy James says: “We all know someone who is affected by dementia. Our chosen charity St Peter & St James Hospice cares for people with the disease, as well as many other life-limiting and terminal illnesses. Let’s hope thousands of riders sign up to help make our town a truly dementia-friendly place.”
There are four routes for riders to choose from, including a 73.5-mile trek and a gentler 12-mile route, to cater for all abilities.
With an array of food stands and music from the bands of Oathall Community College, the event promises to be great fun for riders and spectators alike. Let’s just hope the weather is good!
